Simple 10 Step Process to Write Blogs For A Tradie Website

With over 2.5 million registered trade businesses in Australia which means over 2.5 million tradie websites being present in the market, the competition is all-time high among the websites of similar niches to grab hold of the top position on the search engines.

Every trade business owner in Australia is worried about getting more leads. Often, they pay third-party companies tons of money just to get a handful of leads and sustain their business. But what they don’t realise is that, by having a live website they have the power to attract those leads to their business “organically” through Google.

If you are a trade business owner and you have spent heaps of money on Google ads and buying leads from third-party companies, then please continue reading. This post is for you.

In this blog post, I am going to share an easy 10-step formula to write & publish your blog posts on your tradie website that will improve your website rankings on Google and bring in those local leads your way.

Being a tradie, your life is full of jobs that keep you on your foot every second of your day. That is why I am presenting an easy 10-step strategy that can be easily implemented by your friend, partner or office administrator on an ongoing basis.

You must already be wondering why on Earth you need to focus on blog articles now.

I will answer this question and a whole lot of other ones. Just stick with me 🙂

Top 4 Reasons Why You Need a Blog

1.Blog drive traffic to your website

Each blog article has a target keyword included in it. The target keywords are used because they help attract traffic to your website. The more blogs you publish, the more keyword you will use and thus the traffic on your website will come from multiple search terms which will ultimately increase your website traffic.

Why is this traffic important? It is because of this traffic that Google recognises your website as the trusted source in the industry as it is accessed by so many readers. So, you, see? It all works in a loop.

You add a target keyword, you publish the blog, the blog attracts readers, and this tells the Google algorithm that the content of that blog is useful and so Google pushes your website rankings higher or say towards the top pages of the search results and this way it gets more traffic.

2.Blog will help your business with increased exposure

More exposure means more people will ‘know’ your business and hence, they will remember it when they need your expertise.

Don’t we remember RACV every time we need help with Car Insurance? Why is that the case? Because it has become a household name. How did they do that? By creating a wide net reach on the audience covering platforms like Google.

When blog articles are written on the search terms that your audience is searching on Google aka, your target keywords, your website will start attracting the right kind of customers your business needs.

The more blogs you write, the higher your chances of attracting even more daily leads.

3.Blog helps you build trust

When people want to learn about something, they go to a source that they believe has the authority on the subject. Usually, the top-ranking websites are the ones that have built the authority to reach that spot and so are easily trusted by the reader.

Your blog that is filled with information and value for your readers presents your company as a trusted authority in your industry. The more you post great content that informs and teaches your readers, the stronger this effect becomes.

People naturally gravitate towards a tradie website because they will identify themselves as an expert in their trade.

4. Blog will help you build a community

Your website blog doesn’t have to be all about complex industry topics. It can very well be used to share stories such as how your business got started, the latest NGO your business supported, the last difficult project your team handled etc. This will help you connect with your reader, and it will make them trust you even more.

As humans, we all love stories that entertain or inspire us. That is why, a blog can serve as the perfect medium for your business to create a knit community within your local area. Imagine having 50 families in your suburb a part of your community who are ready to reach out to you every time they need your services. That’s 50 opportunities for you to earn money right through your blog.

We increased our website traffic by 80% all through the power of effective blog writing.

Simple 10 step strategy to write & publish blogs on your tradie website

Step 1 – Identify the search terms of your target audience

If you noticed I did not mention “Target keywords” in the title of this step as this phrase is pretty overrated. I do not want to bring the same words back to life and spoil your mood with boring content.

What you need to be looking at is the search terms your ideal customers are putting in the Google search bar. For this, take help from your friends, relatives and ask them what they will search for if they need help with a service that you offer.

Now put these search terms In your Google search and see what other terms you see “while typing the search terms in Google search bar”, “people also ask section” and “related terms section” that appears at the very last.

Now put all these search terms in a word document so you can come back to them later.

Do this to finalise your target keyword- Choose the search terms which is most common in your list. Use the remaining terms in your FAQ section of the blog and in between the blog content.

Step 2 – Craft engaging headings and subheadings

Now that you have the right keyword, its time for you to prepare an outline for the blog post. This is your time to brainstorm the details you want to cover in your blog post. For each piece of information, you would need a heading that makes your reader to continue reading the blog.

The most effective way to do this is to put yourself in the foot of the reader. What would you as a customer like to read in the blog? Do you have time to read a 2000-word article or a simple 500-word article that outlines the answer to the question of your reader (who is your target customer) would be enough?

It is best to prepare an outline of the blog with appropriate headings and sub-headings.

Step 3 – Spend Time on Your Title.

Your blog title is what the reader sees in the search results. For them to pick up your website among the plethora of others, you want to make sure your title is convincing.

Using vague words such as ‘Best Electric Switch’ as the blog title would not be enough as your customer may not be interested in the ‘best’, they may be looking for the cheapest option or a specific brand that is widely known.

I usually put down all the possible titles I can think of in a word document and then go through them to see which one makes the most sense to me if I was the reader.

SEOs usually over complicate this step, but the best solution really is to stick to what makes clear sense to you as a reader.

With testing and trials, slowly you will be able to master writing Blog titles, believe me.

Step 4 – Create High quality content

Now comes the real deal. The text which you will include with each of your headings and subheadings. In one of my recent blog articles, I shared a game-changing AI tool, Byword.ai that you can use to write Blog articles. This tool has a premium feature which when turned on generates plagiarism-free content for you to simply copy and paste for your blog post.

One thing I would like to warn you though is, rewrite the text you generated using this tool into your own language and style, give it your personality and add a bit of humour. By doing this, your blog post will not just be plagiarism free but also be more relatable with your reader.

Step 5 – Add images and infographics

To make your blog interesting, consider adding images and infographics taken from free resources, or those custom generated by your team using Canva or Midjourney. By adding images, your blog post will become easy on the eye and keep your reader interested till the end of the blog.

While this step is optional, it is highly recommended to add images with the text.

Step 6 – Add Internal Links

Does your blog post talk about a service that is a part of your tradie website? If so, it is a good idea to link that service page to the text where it is suitable. This way you will be ticking off an important SEO factor that improves the visibility of your website on Google.

Apart from embedding links, you can create separate Call-to-action (CTA) sections that outline a particular service that you have to offer. Like the one right below –

Please remember that the topic of the blog and service details in the CTA section must align with each other.

Step 7 – Add a final CTA to the conclusion of your blog post

As much as it is important for you to write an engaging Introduction to the blog, it is equally important to write a conclusion that offers something to the reader for them having read so far.

A conclusion that has a call-to-action button for the reader to act is the best way to sign them up as a customer. Never ever leave a conclusion without adding a CTA. Some possible options could be, give us a call if you need any assistance, request a free quote, sign up for a masterclass etc.

Step 8 – Add an FAQ section

Referring back to Step 1, you must have a list of other related search phrases that go with your blog topic. An FAQ section is a simple question-and-answer section that comes after your blog conclusion and answers related questions on the subject that your blog post covers.  It offers a perfect opportunity for your blog to appear in the ‘People also ask’ section of the Google Search results, alternately called as the Rich Snippets.

If Google rewards your blog post a position in the Rich snippets, your website will attract even more quality traffic because those searchers are the ones looking for specific answers which when provided by your blog post will make them your customer instantly. While this may not happen all the time, as some searchers are only looking for answers. But the increase in traffic will push your website to a better rank and hence that will help you attract the desired customers.

Step 9 – Optimise your Blog For SEO

Rankmath is a great SEO plugin that you can download for free on your WordPress website. With the help of this plugin, you can easily update the Title Tags, Meta Tags, Permalink and other on-page SEO requirements along with quick indexing of your blog with Google. It gives you prompts for the things that are missing along with hints on how you can optimise every area of the blog so that it starts to rank on Google.

The setup of the Rankmath plugin may look a bit daunting to you if you are unaware of how things work with a new plugin setup. However, I would be more than happy to assist you with the setup and help you understand how you can optimise your future blogs easily by yourself. Book a FREE consultation call with me and let’s not waste another day or opportunity to lose that valuable traffic to your competitor.

Step 10 – Time to bring some traffic to your Blog.

Now that your blog post is fully ready, simply copy and paste it into the blog section of your website and hit publish. If your website has been professionally designed, your website backend will have an area for you to upload blog posts within a template already designed which you can easily edit. After it is published, double check if all images are appearing properly, if all links are embedded properly and also how the blog looks on the mobile.

Once you are happy, it is your time to go to public forums like Quora, Reddit, your local news directory and publish your blog links with suitable texts to support the link. For example, in Quora, you can answer any question within the forum that relates with your blog topic along with a link to your blog. This will help you earn a backlink to your blog. Not only that, if your answer is found valuable by other readers, your blog will also start attracting more visitors.

Apart from public forums, you can also share the link in your Instagram stories making your followers aware of the new post. On Facebook, you can copy and paste the introductory paragraph and add the link after that to entice your followers to click on the link to continue reading more.

Your Google Business listing which was formerly known as GMB (Google My Business) is the best tool to invite local readers to your blog. Since this listing appears on the maps, it is important to make sure it is updated with latest information about a tradie’s website. The more blog links you share as updates, the more local people will see it and hence visit your website for answers.

This way your website will not only start attracting more visitors but also position your business as experts in their trade. Which in return will help you build trust and “Customers always work with businesses that they trust.”
