4 ways to use ChatGPT for marketing your small business
Everyone now is talking about AI and how we can start using AI tools like ChatGPT for marketing our small business. The world is moving forward, and you can’t afford to be left behind as a small business owner. My last post on ChatGPT did quite well and ended up becoming one of my top-read posts on the DW Blog and so here I am with yet another post sharing the amazing uses of ChatGPT for small businesses and this time for marketing. Read on.
1. MAKE IT AN IDEA GENERATING MACHINE
The best way to use ChatGPT especially when you are starting out is for generating new ideas. These could be for your social media content, LinkedIn posts or articles, website content and even blog posts. Other times you could use ChatGPT for asking question related to the topics that don’t make sense to you. Things like how to calculate ROI (Return on Investment). It not only provides you with the definition but also goes a step further. Take a look at the image
A) Generate Ideas for social media content – ChatGPT’s ability to generate creative and engaging content can be used to create social media post ideas that will capture the attention of your target audience. For example, I asked Mr. ChatGPT to share some content ideas on the topic “digital marketing” and it gave me this.
Another useful way to use ChatGPT’s intelligence is to come up with comments. How many of you run away from LinkedIn posts that are full of analytical data, very intellectual and leave you wondering what to comment? Because, you know, you want to build friendship with the author? I am like you too 😊 (*same pinch). So I did a little experiment recently and asked Mr. ChatGPT to write a comment for a post, and let me tell you, I skipped a breath when I read the intellectual response I received. Very cheekily, I posted that comment on the LinkedIn post and it helped me build a report with the author. Have you tried something like that too? B) Generate Ideas for website content and blog posts – For example, ChatGPT can generate eye-catching product descriptions that highlight the unique selling points of your products. I still remember my earlier days in marketing when I couldn’t come up with new ideas for writing blog posts. So many doubts filled my mind and how bad I hoped I had someone I could reach out to. 2. USE IT FOR SEO
A) Generate Keywords – Identifying good keywords is not an easy task.One way to use ChatGPT for generating keywords for SEO is to provide it with a prompt that describes the topic of your website or content, and have it generate a list of potential keywords based on that topic.
You can then use those keywords in your website’s meta tags and throughout your content to improve its visibility in search engine results.
Simply ask the bot to generate target keywords for your website by entering the URL and tada!
B) Generate Meta tags – Use ChatGPT for writing meta tags for SEO by providing it with a query that describes the topic of your web page, along with specific information such as the title of the page and the target keywords you want to use. You can then have ChatGPT create the meta tags for the webpage, including the meta title and meta description.
You can also feed in the current meta tags and then use ChatGPT to optimize them by making them more descriptive, compelling, and by making sure they include your target keywords.
Keep in mind that meta tags are not the only factor in SEO and you should also consider other optimization techniques such as well-written content, internal linking, and external backlinks.
3. IMPROVISE YOUR ADS USING CHATGPT-
There are three ways to improve your current ads by the help of ChatGPT for marketing or advertising your small business:
A) Ad Copy – ChatGPT can help you improve your ads by generating ad copy that is more engaging, compelling, and relevant to your target audience. You can provide ChatGPT with information about your product or service, as well as your target audience and the specific message or call-to-action you want to convey in your ad. ChatGPT can then generate several different ad copy options for you to choose from, which you can use in different ad formats such as text ads, display ads, or video ads.
B) Ad Creatives – Besides creating useful copy for your ad, you can also use the same content to create unique ad creatives or graphics (images, videos, carousels, video scripts) that can help you stand out in the crowd.
C) Targeting options – Also, you can use ChatGPT to generate ad targeting options, that can help you in reaching the right audience for your ads by identifying the demographics, interests, behaviours, and other characteristics of your target audience.
Below are some examples:
- Demographics: You can provide ChatGPT with information about your target audience’s age, gender, income, education level, etc. and have it generate a list of demographic targeting options.
- Interests: You can provide ChatGPT with information about the interests of your target audience, such as hobbies, sports, travel, and have it generate a list of interest-based targeting options.
- Behaviours: You can provide ChatGPT with information about the behaviours of your target audience, such as online shopping habits, frequent online searches, and have it generate a list of behaviour-based targeting options.
- Location: You can provide ChatGPT with information about the location of your target audience, such as city, state, country, and have it generate a list of location-based targeting options.
D) Ad Extensions – Ad extensions are additional elements that can be added to your ad to provide more information or to direct users to specific pages on your website. There are several different types of ad extensions available, and they can be used to enhance the visibility and performance of your ad.
Ad extensions that ChatGPT can help you generate are:
- Sitelink: Sitelink extensions allow you to add additional links to your ad that direct users to specific pages on your website. ChatGPT can help you generate different Sitelink options for your ad, such as links to your product pages, your contact page, or your FAQ page.
- Callout: Callout extensions allow you to add short, descriptive text to your ad, such as “Free Shipping” or “24/7 Support”. ChatGPT can help you generate different Callout options for your ad that highlight the specific benefits or features of your product or service.
- Structured Snippet: Structured snippet extensions allow you to add a list of specific items or features to your ad, such as “Colors Available” or “Sizes Available”. ChatGPT can help you generate different structured snippet options for your ad that highlight the unique attributes of your product or service.
By providing ChatGPT with information about your product or service, and the specific message or call-to-action you want to convey in your ad, it can generate ad extensions options that will make your ad more informative and engaging for your target audience.
4. USE IT FOR EMAIL MARKETING
You can use ChatGPT for email marketing in several ways:
A) Email subject lines: You can provide ChatGPT with information about your product or service, as well as the specific message or call-to-action you want to convey in your email, and have it generate several email subject line options for you to choose from.
B) Email body: ChatGPT can write your email body copy as well. Gone are the days when we used to look up for email templates online. Simply feed the prompt for which you want the email to written for and have it generate several different email body options for you to choose from.
C) Personalization: Most of the templates we find online are either too direct or too boring. Personalised emails are everyone’s favourite. You can set a tone of voice after you mention your query/prompt and ChatGPT will take care of the rest.
D) Email campaign: How about using ChatGPT to generate a complete email campaign for your small business? One that includes the subject line, body, call to action, and personalization too. Don’t believe me? Check out this image below.
E) A/B Testing: ChatGPT can also assist you in A/B Testing your emails by generating multiple versions of the email that you can test with a small group of your audience before sending to the whole list.
Asking The Right Questions
Your ability to ask the right questions make the entire difference in your experience with ChatGPT. It is a bot designed to answer your questions. The effectiveness of the answers you receive depends on the ability to ask the right questions. If you ask generic questions, you get vanilla answers.To harness the power of ChatGPT for marketing, you need to ask specific, insightful, creative and strategic questions.
Let’s take an example.
You are a local plumbing business.
Your business relies heavily on paid advertising.
Providing 24/7 emergency services to your local target audience is your company’s USP.
You want to get a deeper insight into your audiences’ pain points to target them with organic marketing efforts such as SEO and thus reduce your advertising investment.
You now want to use ChatGPT to assist you.You could ask:
Question. What are the underlying factors that people see before hiring a local plumber?
- This question will give you prompts on what kind of content you could generate on your website that answers your prospective client’s doubts and makes them choose your business.
Or you could ask this;
Question. What specific keywords and phrases are commonly used by people searching for a local plumber in my area and how can I optimize my website and content to rank for those keywords?
And even something like this:
Question. What are some effective ways to build and maintain a strong online presence and reputation for my local plumbing business?
What does this tell us?
Using A.I. tools such as ChatGPT for marketing your small business can work in various ways to help you create a better online presence, grow your business revenue and discover new ways to implement in the future growth of your company.
Despite the brilliant uses of ChatGPT for marketing, one thing that every small business owner should keep in mind is to use it for assistance only. Don’t make yourself or your business rely fully on it, don’t believe all the facts it pulls out without doing your own research on topics and never ever copy-paste content from it for your website or blog post.
We all have our beautiful minds designed by God to work in ways we like it to.
Just as the human brain has developed the A.I. there’s still no power on earth that can fully replace it.
