Since you’re reading this post, you very well know that SEO is not a one-time-do-all-and-forget type of digital marketing strategy. It takes continuous efforts and patience to see good results through SEO.

Before we look at what these 9 SEO tips are, I have a question for you.

Is organic traffic really important?

You may be wondering how generating traffic to your website might be useful for your business.

The simple answer to this question is, the more traffic your website generates, the higher will be its search engine rankings. The higher the search engine rankings more quality leads your business will receive and thus, it will help improve your business revenue.

Now!

Not all traffic is useful.

Sad? I know.

All of your website visitors may not be specifically looking for your services. Some might be there for information only.

If your website content includes useful information as blog posts, the viewer will see your expertise in your niche topic and end up buying your products or services.

And if not that…

They might recommend them to their friends etc.

At the end of the day, all you want from your website is to generate quality leads for your business that will help sustain and grow it to a greater height.

The more traffic your website generates, the higher will be its search engine rankings. The higher the search engine rankings more quality leads your business will receive and thus, it will help improve your business revenue.

9 SEO tips to generate organic traffic to your website

1. Publish Long Form content

A few years ago Buzzsumo teamed up with Moz to analyze the shares and links of 1 million websites. They discovered that long-form content (ideally >3000 words) gets an average of 208% more shares over short-form articles.

In fact, Brian Dean from Backlinko has done this analysis on his website and found that long-form content has given his website an extra 50,000 website visitors.

I am sure you’re all set to share blog articles that are more then 3000 words…

But wait….

These 3000 words or more…

Cannot just be anything!

That’s right.

While creating long articles, it is important to share information that is useful and not just gibberish. Useless data will increase your bounce rate and hurt your search engine rankings.

2. Republish old articles on Facebook and LinkedIn

One of the easiest ways to generate quality traffic to your website is by sharing old blog posts on LinkedIn and Facebook. Whenever you see there is a hype about a topic that you have posted about simply share the most useful content of you blog post along with a link to the full post. This way your old posts will continue to bring high quality traffic to your website.

Make use of Facebook and LinkedIn Groups to initiate conversations around your post and respectfully add a link to your old article in the comments section. Alternatively, you can add the link to a thread that is already active and is relevant to your content.

3. Initiate activity on Medium, Reddit and Quora

Medium: Medium is a great website to read articles on trending topics. One easy way to generate highly valuable traffic to your website is by sharing your blog content word by word on Medium. The more “reads” it gets, the better your post will perform and thus will bring more traffic to your website

Reddit: Now who doesn’t know about Reddit? Just as I shared above for Facebook groups, do the same for open Reddit threads or better yet, initiate one of your own. Make sure that you include your article links on relevant threads *only.

Quora: This is a unique platform where you can get feedback on your articles by asking people questions or by answering questions for other people.

4. Optimise your content with LSI keywords

With Google’s Hummingbird update, keywords have stopped being the ONLY factor for ranking high on Google. Infact, Google algorithm now understands your content’s topic. Mind blowing, isn’t it?

LSI (Latent Semantic Indexing) keywords are RELATED keywords or topics to your TARGET KEYWORDS that Google understands to rank your website on Google. What this means is that you must add related words and phrases in your content to improve the traffic on your website.

For example, when you write a post about social media and include words like Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, the algorithm confirms your article saying that the post is surely about Social media.

LSIGraph is an awesome SEO tool to generate LSI keywords.

5. Guest posting content with Author Bio links

We all know that the whole purpose of guest posting is to earn backlinks. But if you add your blog link in the author bio it gives an extra opportunity to the readers to visit your website.

Author bio is usually present at the end of a blog article or at the side bar. You may even include a couple of links to your old articles that you feel might relate to the guest post content and also entice readers to visit your website.

As a service-based business owner, you might be wondering, “WHO HAS TIME FOR THAT?”

You do!

Trust me on that.

Even when you feel you don’t.

And it’s important to discover this time

Why?

For the ultimate growth of your business.

Therefore,

Start by getting in touch with people in other industries that relate to your business.

For example,

Imagine you’re an electrician, and your services relate to the design of the wooden wall that your carpenter friend makes. You can create a guest post on his website by sharing some insights or case studies and thus earn a backlink. Now this backlink will improve your domain authority and hence leading to increased organic traffic.

6. Understand your user search intent and cater to that

Knowing what people come to visit your website for is the most powerful way to leverage content and boost your search engine rankings.

If your website is getting more visitors on the service pages, it is probably a signal that you must create sub-pages for each of your services. This way you will be able to provide detailed information to your viewers, they will then stay on your website for long which the Google algorithm likes, and you already know what it does when it likes something don’t you. 😀

On the other hand, if your website is getting more views on the blog, then the signal is clear. It’s time to write more blog articles. Period.

If you’re wondering, how to find traffic details of your website, you can use a free tool by Google called Google Analytics. Have you implemented that on your website yet? If not, I am happy to assist. Please fill out the form and get in touch with me here.

7. Make use of the Google Business profile

Do you know, you can share links on Google business listing?

And

Do you know you Google maps show most popular content in a particular search area with the title “Latest in <location name>”?  This is a great resource to make more people visit your website by regularly sharing content on your Google Business listing. What could be better than getting local eyeballs and hence local customers?

Uploading content regularly on Google business listing is a simple way to boost local traffic and helps in improved rankings on the maps. Therefore, while you may be struggling to gain traffic through organic rankings through the search, getting noticed on the maps could work out very well in your favour in terms of traffic growth.

8. Improve your website loading speed

Being a consumer of online content, you must’ve seen yourself closing a website real quick if the webpages don’t load instantly.

You’ve been there, right?

Now, if you circle back to that instant, you will identify that it was the WEBSITE LOADING SPEED that was slow and didn’t let the webpage to open quickly.

Have you checked if that is the case with your website as well?

If it is, then RUN!

This TECHNICAL SEO MISTAKE is probably hurting your rankings and you didn’t even realise it.

If you need help, you already know where to go 😊

9. Improve internal linking on your website

Imagine a visitor who comes to your blog post,

What would you like them to do next?

Leave the site

Or

Continue browsing?

Internal links is the best way to make the readers stay on your website. How do you do that? Internal Linking is nothing but co-linking pages(or blog articles) on your website with one another. What it does is, when one blog post links to another one, it increases the session duration of the user on your website, which is a positive for the Google algorithm which will then reward your website with a better search ranking and hence improved traffic. This is one of the easiest SEO strategy that you implement on your website without needing an SEO expert.

Please note that internal linking is not the sole factor for improved organic traffic to your website. It is ONE of the many factors that search engines take into account to give your website a high search ranking and that leads to increased traffic.

With this, I am sure you are left with much work to do on your website. Increased organic traffic which is also quality traffic, is all we want on our websites. As the market becoming competitive, paid advertising is becoming more and more expensive. Search Engine Optimisation still continues to be the best digital marketing technique you can use for the growth of your business.
